We had our character in everyday clothes, and a warm fur coat, due to the weather, and also to act as a barrier between her and the rest of the world.
As she is distressed during the film, due to being bullied and alone, we tried to channel that into her look. We smudged black eye makeup down her face, and scattered some water to get the effect of real tears and real distress.
